Tatum lifts Chaminade to big win over SLUH

Chaminade Senior, Jayson Tatum, poured in 32 points as he led the Red Devils to an 87-67 victory over SLUH Wednesday night.

The Junior Bills kept the game close, trailing 21-18 after the first quarter, but Chaminade (3-1) would use a 13-5 run to push ahead early in the 2nd quarter. The Red Devils took a 43-34 lead into the half.

To begin the second half, Chaminade would take control for good, this time using a 14-6 run to take a 57-40 lead midway through the third quarter. The Red Devils then cruised to victory in their Metro Catholic Conference opener.

Tatum, a Duke commit, shot 11 of 20 from the field and tallied eight rebounds on the night. Chaminade point guard and Duquesne University commit, Mike Lewis, also added 16 points in the victory. Iowa commit, Tyler Cook did not play in the game.

The Red Devils, who are ranked 13th in the latest USA Today national poll, will play two games in two nights starting on Friday against CBC at 7 p.m. at Lindenwood University. On Saturday, Chaminade will host Bentonville (AR) at 1 p.m.
