The cougars were on a 3-game winning streak before being handed a loss by Providence Day, who now boasts a 4-2 record.
Saturday night was the finale of the Charlotte Hoops Challenge at Myers High School with a crowd with standing room only.

In the first quarter High Point was off to a bad start being outscored by 15 points. From there the Cougars couldn't close the gap during the game, never outscoring the Chargers by more than 4 points the entire game.

Edrice Adebayo led all scores with 23 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block and shooting 50% from the field.

Adebayo struggled from the free throw line only making 1 out of 5 and leading the Cougars with 6 turnovers.

Following Adebayo was Ty Graves with 17 points.

The Chargers sophomore guard Trey Wertz led the Chargers with 22 points, with ten from the free-throw line.

Devin Dotson followed in 18 for the Chargers while Grant Williams added 13.

In the end, Providence Day scored 76 points and held the High Point Christian Academy to 66.

The Chargers are proving that they belong with the nations top teams.

High Point is the 12th ranked team in the nation and their Kentucky recruit Edrice Adebayo no walk in the park.

Trey Wertz tells the Charlotte Observer that it was a full team effort to pull this off.

“It was definitely a full, all-out team effort,” Wertz told the Observer. “They put me in the right spots to do what I did and I think I stepped up tonight. It was definitely good to get off to an early start. You build your confidence as a team and personally.”

Providence Day's next game is against Greensboro Day who is currently 8-0, coming off a 66-53 win over Winston-Salem Prep (Winston-Salem, NC).

The now 3-1 Cougars (3-1) will prepare for Christ School (Arden, NC) on Friday while Providence Day is back in action Tuesday hosting Greensboro Day.
