Porter Jr. eclipses 2,000 career points in win over Kirksville

Father Tolton Catholic (16-2) rallied behind two first half runs to pull away from Kirksville in a 74-38 victory Tuesday night.

The Trailblazers trailed 14-12 in the first quarter, but Washington bound Jontay Porter, who scored 10 of his 16 points in the opening quarter, triggered a 9-0 run to put Father Tolton ahead 21-14.

The Trailblazers were able to spark another run in the final minutes of the second quarter, this time a 14-0 run that gave Father Tolton a 41-23 halftime lead.

Porter Jr., a five-star recruit, scored 11 of his game high 28 points in the third quarter as the Trailblazers cruised to a lopsided victory. Porter Jr. had 11 rebounds and eight assists, while also surpassing 2,000 career points.

Isaiah Wilson was also in double figures for the Trailblazers with 13 points. Father Tolton has won 10 straight games.

The Trailblazers will travel to play Macon on Thursday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 CST.
