Word of God basketball tipped off it’s 2015-16 campaign on Tuesday night and it’s pretty clear that the Holy Rams are still one of the top tier basketball programs in the country.
With the addition of high-profile transfer Rawle Alkins, a 6-5 senior guard the team could be a great contender on the national scene.
Alkins led the Rams with a game-high 25 points, winning over Burlington Positive Day School in a 81-61 victory.

The Rams went from being unranked in the USA Today Super 25, to being catapulted to a #22 rank this preseason giving the Raleigh team the opportunity to prove themselves on the high school basketball scene.
Thanks to Alkins that just might be possible.
The 6-5 guard out of New York is one of the most powerful scorers in his class and being recruited by premier college basketball programs, including Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, St. John’s, UNLV, UNC and N.C. State.
According to Alkins journal entry on USA Today, UNC’s Coach Roy Williams compared Alkins to Michael Jordan.
High praise from the man who coached the G.O.A.T himself.
When I took my visit to North Carolina, Coach Williams was telling me all about how much of an impact I could make on the state. He said I really reminded him of Michael Jordan. He said Michael was 6-4 when he was there just like me, and Michael did whatever it took to win and he said he sees that in me.
When I talk to Coach Calipari he tells me that I remind him of Tyreke Evans. He said we both have a lot of natural ability. He said at Kentucky it’s like a training ground to be a pro. Then, with Indiana, they’ve been comparing me to Victor Oladipo.
So, as you guys can see, I get a lot of comparisons!
I think it’s a blessing to even be thought of on that level. It just makes me want to work harder.
They Rams will play on Friday in Kansas for a two-day tournament.
