High Point Christian trumps Metrolina Christian, 90-42
On Friday Nov. 20th, the High Point Christian Academy Cougars (HCPA) trumped Metrolina Christian Academy in the Cannon Classic with an overwhelming 48 point blowout with a score of 90-42.
In the first quarter, HCPA came out of the gate super aggressive; overwhelming the Warriors with 32 points and holding them to zero points.
The Cougars would give up 29 points in the second half, but would still widen the gap by maintaining a 29 point lead.
HCPA’s junior point guard Reece Bogan would lead all scorers with 17 points, shooting 86% from the field. Coming in second and leading in field goal percentage would be 6’7″ Forward Amidou Bamba shooting with 89% efficiency.

The Warriors did put up a fight, but didn’t have the depth and size to face HCPA. Junior guard Braxton Mcclendon led the Warriors with 15 points, ahead of senior guard Emeka Nwankwo with 11 points.
Friday’s challenge was pure domination for HCPA, protecting the rim and dominating the paint for the entire game. The Cougars snatched 33 rebounds compared to the Warriors 24. The Warriors also struggled shooting from the charity stripe; missing out on 8 free throw attempts.
Jalen Seegars led the Cougars with 3 blocked shots, while Amidou Bamba trailed with two. Seegars and Bamba collectively had more blocked shots than the entire Warriors team, who actually recorded no blocked shots for the entire game.
At one particular moment during the game Seegars would fly across the paint at the blink of an eye displaying amazing timing and precision to swat shots out of the paint.
One play in particular, MCA’s Nwanko would shift an HCPA defender with a crafty crossover and maneuvering his way through the paint right before having his layup (possibly even dunk) swatted seconds before going in the rim.
With this victory, HCPA improves its record to 2-0. The Cougars travel to Durham Academy (Durham, NC) to confront the Cavaliers in a non-league challenge on Saturday, November 21.
