Oak Hill Academy was on a roll this season.
It seemed as though the injury of Harry Giles would only be a minor setback, but after Phenom Hoop Report’s Phenom National showcase it could be a bad sign.
On Friday night, Oak Hill defeated Providence Day in a physical game led by 6’7” Alabama commit Braxton Key and 6’8″ Mississippi State commit Mario Kegler.
Oak Hill looked untouchable – until they were faced with 22 Feet Academy.

Oak Hill took an 18 point lead over 22 feet Academy into half time. By the time the second half started, 22 Feet Academy’s Eli Wright (also a Mississippi State commit) would steal the show.
This gif should sum everything up.
22 Feet Academy’s Eli Wright led with 20 points and Justin Miller added 13.
Kegler led Oak Hill with 16 points and Key added 15.
22 Feet Academy assures that whether Oak Hill had Harry Giles or not, they were going to win regardless.
Per USA Today:
“I can’t even tell you how great this feels,” Miller said. “I’m telling you we knew we were going to win well before Harry got hurt. I just felt like Jesus was with us on this one. We played our hearts out; we never quit.”
It says a lot about a team if they can overcome an 18-point deficit, and that’s what 22 feet Academy did.
Oak Hill Academy isn’t happy with the loss, but is assuring that an upset like this won’t happen again.
Matt Coleman tells Jason Jordan of USA Today:
“I didn’t like that, but they won so what can I say,” Coleman said. “We just didn’t play well. We gave up an 18-point lead and we didn’t come out aggressive… It’s just something to learn from. This isn’t a good feeling. I’m not gonna feel like this again.”
Oak Hill is now 3-1, their next game is against Moravian Prep tonight at 8pm EST.
Oak Hill’s last game against Moravian Prep, Coach Calipari was in attendance and Harry Giles had torn his ACL.
